Oddly enough

What is it about the young-man-gets-molested-by-older-man template that produces such a reliable predisposition toward homosexuality in the victim? We must, I think, admit it's part of the genius of Satan to "inspire" such an ironic emotional script in the victim whereby he compensates for the incident(s) by imitating the same behavior that caused the trauma to begin with.

On a related note, the stauchly pro-homosexual Bishop Thomas Gumbleton of Detroit (whose brother is openly gay) says he was molested 60 years ago, by a priest no less.

And, no, I don't believe such events are the sole cause of SSA; and, yes, I believe there is such a thing as genetic predisposition.

Good points, Patrick.

I once saw a piece on CNN about Melissa Etheridge. She admitted that her older sister molested her as a young girl. You can't tell me that didn't have a huge impact on her sexual psyche.

RC: I think you've overcompensated: If I've reversed the cause-effect, then SSA-disposed youths are the cause of their molestation. But I never said it was *the* cause, per se. Yes, I agree that homosexual predators probably go for weaker members of the herd, so to speak, to better ensure compliance, but some young men are simply nervous by nature, or quite shy or physically weak, or what have you. And none of these traits equate to SSA.

Early molestation is reported very frequently by gay male adults, according to the research of Fitzgibbons, Nicolosi, Socarides, et al.

There are obviously other causal factors at work: a distant or abusive father, a controlling or emotionally incestuous mother, early expose to gay pornography, poor hand-eye coordination in grade school, genetic predisposition, even demonic opppression.

What I've tried to say whenever it comes up is, it's complicated and mysterious because human life and human sin are comlicated and mysterious.

I'm just struck my how often I hear of these predatory events occuring in the past history of adult gays and lesbians. And even if the cause-effect chain goes both ways (can I use that metaphor?), it doesn't pay the homosexual inclination any compliments.

Gumbleton has been shown the door, now that he has passed the age for retirement. What a suprise. The man didn't seem to know the difference between the pulpit and a liberal soapbox. The Curt Jester has the story.
