"Just a victim of being in Congress while black."

Cynthia "left hook" McKinney (D-GA) should be charged with being an idiot while in Congress.

The nerve.

Cynthia McKinney may be an idiot, but in this case, I don't think so. Just imagine being in a hurry, thinking about other things, not hearing anyone call you and then all of a sudden, you feel someone's hands on you. Plus, it was the lawyer that made the comment (some sort of sensationalism) about being in Congress while black. The only reason it would have gotten to lawyer point is if we are not getting the full story because if it had been a normal altercation, she would have said who she was, apologized for not hearing him and we wouldn't be having this conversation. But something obviously happened on her side and a lawyer is milking it for all it's worth. I can't blame her for trying to protect herself from a legal fracas, but she can't be an idiot simply because her lawyer is.

And what's your evidence for saying "she would have said who she was, apologized for not hearing him and we wouldn't be having this conversation."

Do you know her personally?

Rep. McKinney has a bit of a history of "misunderstandings" with law enforcement, including previous incidents with Capitol police. What we know so far is that she wasn't wearing her required US Representative's ID badge, and refused to stop walking after three direct requests. I find it impossible to believe she was just kinda distracted with all the work she has to do for her constituents.

Maybe she has a hearing problem she's embarrassed to admit, but otherwise, when a police officer asks you to stop -- esp in the very sensitive Capitol Building -- you STOP, and ask how you can help the officer. You don't keep on trucking and then play victicrat, including getting a punch in. Unluckily for her, it's all on security tape.

And BTW, Ms. McKinney didn't need her laywer to play the race card, as she laid it down loudly during her dopey press conference.

Having had a Top Secret clearance before - and I am a white woman, if you’re concerned to know - I say this...

It doesn't matter who you are.. When you pass through a security check point you better have your ID badge showing or ID yourself clearly to the proper authorities OR expect to be confronted. Period. In my day it meant if I didn’t do my part I could expect to be shot. To be grabbed and asked for ID would have been kind in my book.

To pull the race card is absurd!

No disrespect meant. I didn't know you knew her personally either, or that you had the advantage of knowing the whole story. I know that as far as reading your post and reading up on the goings on, her press conference not having happened yet, I just took an assumptive position on how things can happen. Since I wasn't directly disagreeing with your position, I shouldn't have said a thing at all, though just because someone cries wolf alot doesn't mean there isn't actually one there one time or another.
