Catholic Answers has hired me to replace the venerable Jerry Usher as the full-time host of Catholic Answers Live. Obviously, a great opportunity and an even greater grace in my life. My official start date is February 16 in San Diego. I first must fly to El Paso, TX, (probably on February 11) to switch TN visa categories. Always a nerve-wracking endeavor....

When I get the date of that El Paso interview, I'll post it and request your prayers.

I have been a ROFTER (reader of First Things) for over 11 years, and reading Father Neuhaus's "The Public Square" essays at the back were like devouring the funnies. Try as I might to keep from reading it right away, I always failed, and dashed to it like a hungry man to a hamburger stand.

I'll miss his wit, his incisive (and often dryly hilarious) prose and his consistent witness for Jesus Christ in His Church.

His Public Square offerings were, to my mind, the prototype of all future Catholic blog posts.
