The first Catholic blogger dies

A lion of faith and reason has gone to be with his Lord, and may the encounter be rich and fullsome.

I have been a ROFTER (reader of First Things) for over 11 years, and reading Father Neuhaus's "The Public Square" essays at the back were like devouring the funnies. Try as I might to keep from reading it right away, I always failed, and dashed to it like a hungry man to a hamburger stand.

I'll miss his wit, his incisive (and often dryly hilarious) prose and his consistent witness for Jesus Christ in His Church.

His Public Square offerings were, to my mind, the prototype of all future Catholic blog posts.
